The OT Circus is thrilled to present: “Ancient Diné Abstraction” – New Works by Nathan Nez:
Nathan Nez is a Navajo Artist, veteran, and a family man from Woodsprings, AZ. Growing up, he had no knowledge of art and its history until going to University of New Mexico. It was there that he learned many artistic styles such as classical, modernism, and post modernism.
He has learned to express his art in a myriad of mediums such as oil, acrylic, spray paint, gold leaf, wood burning, and mixed media. Nathan enjoys exploring different forms of substrates such as wood, metal, stretch cloth, and Plexiglas. He uses different media and substrates to portray both graphic and Diné imagery.
Nathan’s traditional painterly style comes from his contemporary street art techniques. He is staying true to his culture and where he came from by showing the world that Diné art can be viewed in many different styles, in hopes that you will enjoy and appreciate his artistic point of view.
