About the show:
Artists Arlaina Ash, Helen Atkins, and Connor Schneider rework old pieces, and the byproducts of their process, to create new meaning. With unique style and vision, each artist reanimates former work and its themes, connecting the past to the present. The mixed-media artists use elements of collage as they revisit and add new layers to their artistic history.
Arlaina lets her intuition guide her in deciding what the pieces she chooses to work with will become. She uses paint, ink, graphite, and collage in this process.
Connor Schneider’s art is an abstract showing of recollections, remnants, and ruminations with the past. With differing aesthetic amplifications and stylizations on themes of patterns, layers, and repetition, Connor has created art with almost no pre-conceived, final result in mind. Histories, illusions, nuances, puzzles, and the fragments & residues from our past that linger, haunt, and shape our present are all major inspirations for his art.
Atkins examines the insidious persistence of anxiety in her series of surreal figurative works that combine paint, graphite, and sculptural elements.
